The Origin of One of China’s Fifteen Famous Scenic Spots
Author:

During the Republic of China period, the academic community engaged in a debate over the ranking of China’s most famous scenic spots. In 1920, the Commercial Press in Shanghai, after extensive solicitation, deliberation, and careful selection, ultimately identified fifteen major Chinese landmarks. Panshan was included on this list, alongside such renowned sites as Mount Huangshan, Mount Tai, and West Lake. Subsequently, the Commercial Press published and distributed nationwide a collection titled “China’s Famous Scenic Spots.”
