A mountain, a love story
Author:
About this trip
During the summer vacation, I underwent training for more than two weeks, clocking in from eight in the morning to eight at night—such a hectic schedule left me utterly exhausted, barely able to catch my breath.
On the final day of the training, Mr. Mengmeng picked me up and we sped out of Beijing right away.
With little preparation or planning, we’d set out specifically to see the live‑action performance of “Tianxia Qingshan.” Our original plan was to go for a day and return the same day, staying just one night. But on the day of our visit, it rained in Jixian County, and the show was canceled. Still, having made the trip all the way here, we weren’t about to give up, so we stayed an extra day—and finally got to experience the performance just as we’d hoped.
For the fascination with and affection for live‑action performances,
The two of us went to great lengths, traveling to countless places.
But it is precisely this kind of fondness,
I just saw something like this,
A mountain,
A love story.

Day 1: Beijing – Jixian County
The training wrapped up around noon, we got on the bus and headed out of Beijing—this was the pace.
In about two hours, we arrived in Jixian County and checked into our pre-booked hotel—the Xiangshui Bay Hotel.
Then we headed straight to Panshan and went to the “Panshan Three Brothers” farmhouse to pick up our tickets—only to be told, much to our disappointment, that the performance had been canceled due to the rain. So we settled in at the Three Brothers’ place for a hearty farmhouse meal: golden‑yellow pan‑fried eggs, spicy duck heads, and even two bottles of Panshan jujube juice courtesy of the owner—enough to make today’s effort worthwhile.
Back at the hotel, I’m going to get a good rest—this training over the past few days has really been enough…
Good night, Panshan...
Day 2: Panshan, Jixian County
Actually, we had plenty of time that day to explore the mountain roads, but we were so exhausted that we didn’t wake up until almost noon, and then we checked into our second hotel.
Typically, live‑action shows are staged in the evening, so even after the performance, you can’t rush back to Beijing overnight—meaning you’ll have to stay another night.
On this day, we stayed at the YingSheng Business Hotel.
I drove around the county town for a bit, and by evening I’d made my way to Panshan—my eagerness to see the show was simply irresistible…
That said, we’re not really into hiking either, so we just took a few photos at the base of the mountain.
It is said that the Qianlong Emperor visited this mountain 32 times, all for the sake of a single woman.
Oh, this kind of plot is just unbelievable…
The wait for the show to begin was even more nerve-wracking; both sides of the road were lined with posters advertising the performance, and one after another, we saw crowds arriving. Today, we finally get to see it!
A live‑action performance—I truly hope everyone gets a chance to see it, from the bottom of my heart. You can almost smell the air itself; look up, and your eyes are met with a sky full of dazzling stars. The stage ceases to be a stage—it merges seamlessly with the mountains and waters, unfolding one unforgettable story after another right before your eyes. Though “Tianxia Qing Shan” feels like a blend of “Zen Shaolin” and “The Grand Dynasty,” the storyline is solid; at the very least, it leaves you with a vivid memory of that mountain—quite lovely. Pan has taken the vows, and the emperor is forced to return to his golden throne room. As the gates close behind him, all Pan offers the emperor is a fleeting silhouette. In this lifetime, their paths will never cross. That moment moved me to tears.
After the performance, I stepped out feeling thoroughly satisfied—the sky full of stars was truly dazzling…
Good night, Qingshan of the World…
Day 3: Jixian County—Beijing
Today, I slept in until I woke up naturally, checked out, and then left Jixian County.
The journey took about two hours, and we returned safely to Beijing.
About ending
No one knows,
This time, the places I’ve been to,
Will this life ever come again?
Looking back at that mountain once more,
32 instances of wandering,
For just one person.
Farewell, Mount Qingshan of the World!
Dear Beijing, we’re back again!
