Heaven and Earth · Panshan – Epilogue: Love · Mountain
Author:
In his old age, as the Qianlong Emperor approached the twilight of his years, even amid the adulation of countless subjects, he could not forget the poem he had composed in his youth upon first encountering Panshan. Consumed by a lingering sense of incompleteness, he ordered his officials to tirelessly renovate and maintain the monasteries on Panshan.
The aged wheel, unsteady yet resolute, makes its way toward the mountaintop along the winding path. A temple rises within the heart—past lives and future existences, it turns out, are but the fleeting bloom of a moment’s waiting.
I ask the Buddha, I ask this mountain: though we do not meet, we are not alone.
