Amid the battlefields wracked by flames, the faint, serene chanting from the Pan’er Temple far off in the distance stirred in Qianlong a long-lost memory of his childhood’s sweetness.
News of Lady Niohuru’s grave illness reached the palace. The Serpent Fairy, with her song, enlightened the three of them; Pan was willing to pray for Lady Niohuru, repaying enmity with virtue. Mother and son, at this very moment, laid their past grievances to rest.
