The Tianjin Daily published a special report on the Panshan Cableway.
The Insheng Cableway, the Yunsong Cableway, and the Gua Yue Cableway together form an aerial tour route that winds from the foot to the summit of Panshan National 5A‑Level Scenic Area, allowing countless visitors to savor the breathtaking vistas of “the No. 1 Mountain in Eastern Jing” high above the ground. Over the years, the Panshan Scenic Area has implemented a series of stringent measures to ensure that tourists can enjoy their sightseeing with peace of mind and delight. Recently, a reporter visited the Yunsong Cableway service station to meet the dedicated guardians of these “aerial safety lines.”
“Please stand within the designated square and wait.” At 9:00 a.m., the entrance to the Panshan Yunsong cable car was packed with passengers eager to board. Four staff members at the cable‑car service station instructed those at the front of the line to take their assigned positions on either side in advance. “All right, the cabin is arriving—please lower your head and step inside,” they announced. Two tourists then stepped into a red cabin. With a sharp click, the staff promptly locked the cabin door, and the gondola slowly began its ascent…
On-duty manager Wang Haimin told reporters that the Yunsong cable car, at an elevation of over 400 meters, is the longest of the three sections on Panshan Mountain, stretching 1,700 meters in total. It also boasts the most scenic views along the entire route, crossing two mountain ridges, which is why it attracts so many visitors. The reporter observed that when it was the turn of two elderly passengers in their sixties, both wore expressions of nervousness. “Don’t worry, everyone,” Wang Haimin reassured them. “We’ll activate manual controls to slow down the cabin and ensure your safe entry.” As he spoke, he signaled the staff to reduce the speed. Soon, a yellow cable car glided slowly to a stop before the two seniors. They stepped aboard with composure; only after settling into their seats did the cabin begin its ascent. From inside, the two elders turned back with smiles, giving the staff a thumbs-up.
Standing at the entrance to the Yunsong Cableway and looking up, one can see the ascending (descending) cabins moving in perfect order—red, yellow, and blue gondolas steadily rising (descending), seamlessly blending with the picturesque mountain scenery. “The cabins are suspended from the cableway, so the steel cables play a crucial role,” said Feng Xiaochun. “We conduct daily inspections. In addition, we check numerous critical components every day, including the foundation bolts of the support towers, regardless of weather conditions. We’ve also developed comprehensive emergency response plans for contingencies such as sudden power outages and unexpected severe storms during operation.”

Bai Guangming, director of the Panshan Tourism Administration, said: “The Panshan cable car has been in operation since 1994 and has safely carried passengers for 25 years, transporting more than 660,000 visitors annually. The key to its safety lies in high‑quality maintenance and reliable operations. Today, the three sections of the cable car—Rusheng, Yunsong, and Guayue—total 3,600 meters in length. The scenic area conducts rigorous daily inspections and invites experts from the National Cable Car Center each year to provide oversight and guidance, ensuring absolute safety.”
